Being a Jew at UCI

This is a little old, but I wrote a piece for a UCI blog a few months ago. Just some of my thoughts on being Jewish at UCI.

Every day now, we're hearing how extreme right-wing pro-Israel organizations like the Zionist Organization of America are attacking Jewish students at UCI for being involved with the Olive Tree Initiative. They're also adamant in trying to convince us that we're victim of a Nazi-like environment. A lot of these people have experienced such aggression firsthand, so I can see where they're coming from. But these people also only bother to visit our campus when on its worst week of the year, when the Muslim Student Union is out in force. They don't pay attention to the rest of the year, when the campus is relatively quiet. Yet they have the nerve to demand people to cut funding to the UCI Hillel and Jewish Federation because UCI Jewish students are engaging in moderate organizations like OTI. I heard they actually called one of our former shaliachs "anti-Israel." The guy served in the IDF and was probably as Zionist as you can get without forfeiting reason and logic like these people.

It's starting to piss me off because it's revealing more and more how, outside of Israel, it's the extremist camps fueling the controversy over Israel and the Palestinians. If we stick up for Israel at all, the MSU and liberals feels obligated to go out of its way to tell people we're racists supporting apartheid and all that happy shit. If we engage with people who are critical of Israel, not even to the point of anti-Zionism but just genuinely critical, then the more conservative people in the pro-Israel/Jewish community feel obligated to tell everyone we're anti-Israel terrorist sympathizers and all that stupendous tripe.

If both camps would just hold their tongues and respect the fact that not everyone has to think the same way they do, things around here would be a helluva lot more peaceful.

Dresden: 17,000 People Turn Out to Rebuff Neo-Nazis

Yesterday, the anniversary of the bombing of Dresden, Germany, around 17,000 people in Dresden joined hands to block a neo-Nazi march that has become correlated with the anniversary of the city's bombing.

I think it's a little saddening when I talk to the uncommon Jew who still holds negative views of the Germans for the Holocaust. Like any society should, they have gone the extra several dozen miles in trying to make up for the Holocaust and World War II. The German people know they screwed up, they're not foisting the blame onto anyone else's shoulders, and they've done everything they can to apologize. In fact, they're still trying to make up for it in their embrace of multiculturalism, and they're starting to pay for it.

The events in Dresden yesterday are hard proof that the Germans are humans first and nationalists second. When the people, not just the government, make an effort on the scale of seventeen THOUSAND to confront the extremist ghosts of their country's past, you know that their society has for the most part expunged the contagion.

This is what should be happening in Arab and Islamic countries. Whenever Hamas or Hezbollah or any hardcore Islamic organization tries to march, the citizens of that neighborhood should be taking to the streets and emulating the Dresden protest. Root out the hatred! Purge your community of the parasite that's sickening the world's image of you.

So far, the number of such Islamic protests is a smack-in-the-face zero (or very, very close it). The number of instances of foisting the responsibility/blame for Islamic extremism onto another party's shoulders? The number would shatter the charts.

Stand With Truth! Eleven Ways to Fight for Justice

So you've been following the news, maybe even read the article instead of just the byline, formed a strong opinion with no intent to look into opposing narratives, and now you want to stand up to oppression and injustice. Perhaps there are people starving in Africa. Perhaps minorities are being killed and women are being raped senselessly in the Middle East. Or perhaps a diplomat from a foreign country you've never in your life been to yet just can't stand is due to give a speech on your campus. Whatever the reason, you can't stand idly by while this injustice happens right in front of you.

Good for you! But before you do, you're going to need a game plan. The road ahead is not an easy one. The following are tips to help you stand up for what's right and completely unresearched.

1. Organize Make sure you get in contact with other like-minded people who know only half of the necessary facts. Sometimes people need a kick in the butt to get them going, so it might help to whip up a boogeyman to get their rears in gear. For example, inform them about this or that country that's doing horrible, awful, inhumane things to these or those poor people. Really convince them that this country is pure evil, the Satan-spawn of the world. Abusing Nazi analogies over and over really helps. Before you know it, your peers will be clamoring for action. You might even start believing it yourself, too!

Careful, though; be sure not to present the controversial matter in its entirety; otherwise your peers may actually be forced to think for themselves, and you don't want that. And for the love of all that is unresearched and brainwashed, do NOT do any original research yourself, or you risk exposing yourself to the evils of propaganda. Always, always, ALWAYS get your information from biased news sources and organizations no rational person would trust. They know what's up. It also helps if they hate America.

2. Run Recon on Your Enemies Now that you and your group are ready for action, it's time to find where your ill-formed opinions are needed most. Research the student clubs on your college campus, and find the ones that don't agree with your cause. In fact, find the ones that half-agree with you but also try to play the middle ground just so you can tell them to screw off and show them what awesomely close-minded SOBs you all are. Once you've done that, find out if these student groups are holding any events. It doesn't matter what the subject of the event is; they don't share your viewpoint, so they're Hitler.

3. Map Out a Plan Now that you've tracked down the offending student clubs on your campus and researched their events, it's time to pick the one you'll be sabotaging. In the name of peace and justice, of course. Generally, the bigger the event the better. This way you stand the chance of getting more media coverage, which is half the reason you're doing this anyway, you silly egotistical sociopath you.

Be sure to discuss your plans online or via mail. Whatever you choose, it isvital that you leave a paper or electronic trail for the authorities to find later on. This will likely lead to greater controversy after the event, giving you another chance to publicize your cause. Never mind how impossibly stupid this may seem; it's for justice!

4. Get Your War Paint On It's a well-known fact that the more identical members of a group look, the more intimidating they are. Be sure your members are all dressed similarly at the least. When you walk into that event, you want people to know you plan on making an obnoxious amount of trouble.

5. Strategic Placement Spread your cohorts out through the event. This way, when you launch your plan into action, your peers can make as much noise as humanly possible to create the illusion that there are people with valid opinions who support you in standing up to tyranny. In reality, everybody in the room - political opinions notwithstanding - will think you and your friends are a group of immature foggy-headed twats. But that's alright. You're enlightened! You know better than they do, poor souls.

6. Be Patient Timing is everything. Wait until the perfect moment to unleash your attack. If the event is featuring a speaker, give him some time before you launch your plan. Remember, you are high on truth. You have a bad case of the justice munchies and this guy is the only apartheid brownie in the whole frikkin room.

You're going to have to put up with the speaker's lies and propaganda long enough to wait for the perfect moment. Two, maybe even three entire seconds should be enough. Then you can jump into action. Remember, genocide is not free speech! In fact, it's not any kind of speech because it's a physical action.

7. Strength! Remember why you're here! Be solid in your conviction. Stand up and make sure the entire room is aware of your polite but unthinkably obnoxious interruption. After all, this is a free country, and you're entitled to your freedom of speech just like everyone else. Except for everybody in this room. They don't count.

You are a megaphone for your cause, and you must amplify its message as loudly, rude, inconsiderate, and annoying as you can. That'll make your message really stick!

8. Choose Your Words Wisely Let the speaker know exactly what you think of him! Remember to use as many buzz words and sound bites as possible, for dramatic effect. Words like "racism," "genocide," "apartheid," and "Nazi" are all extremely effective in getting your point across. Don't be surprised if the speaker even says that he agrees with you, but only because of your eloquent and majestic diction.

9. Don't Give Up! Very likely, the oppressive lackeys of the school's regime will escort you out in an autocratic attempt to silence your message just because you're a minority/are not white. Don't worry, though; your peers inside will continue the fight! Make sure that before the event, you've established very clearly you will not let this event finish (and remember; leave a paper trail of it). How dare these students who oppose your opinion try and host a large-scale event that is in no way controversial and in fact only discusses history! What do they think they have, freedom of speech? Homey, please.

After 10 or 11 polite interruptions, have your supporters leave the room in an unnecessarily noisy manner. And just when everyone in the room thinks they can finally enjoy the event without interruption... SURPRISE! There you and your partners in justice are outside the event, chanting and screaming and holding up signs that no one in the event can read or even see. Do not let them silence truth, no matter how obnoxious and contorted it is!

10. The Aftermath Undoubtedly, the club that held the event you gloriously triumphed over will exert their far-reaching power and resources to get the school administration to punish you for exercising your freedom of speech to shut someone up. On top of controlling the world media and banks, now they control your school, too?! That's ok; the first day you set foot on campus you knew the administration of this school was corrupt because they work white-collar jobs and make more than four figures a year. The bastards.

Deny, deny, deny! There may be an electronic trail of e-mail messages proving beyond the shadow of a doubt what you did, but these people aren't enlightened like you are, so if you keep denying they'll eventually buy it.

11. Milk It for All It's Worth Be sure to publicize your and your peers' plight as much as possible. Make flyers, approach professors, create petitions in order to gather support for you and your fellow freedom fighters. Point out to them the sheer idiocy of the idea of punishing someone for breaking a law when all they were doing was standing up for what's right. Don't these people know that your cause makes you exempt from the law?

Only tell people enough to make you look pitiable and defenseless, a poor group of students whose only crime was exercising their basic American rights (even though you think America is a racist, imperialist regime, but thinking about that hypocrisy isn't really conducive to your cause, so don't worry about it). And for the love of God, whatever you do, DON'T tell people the full story! If they learn any of the crucial facts that fully explains the situation and puts it into context, they may understand what actually happened. And you can't have that!

But if you're the kind of person who would read this guide, then you already know the dangers of not twisting facts and giving people half-truths. You should also already be a master at playing the victim card.

Congratulations! You have successfully taken advantage of the school and American civil liberties to gather support for a heinous violation of the First Amendment. What a glorious display of our forefathers' values! What a fantastic exhibition of the founding principles of this beautiful, imperialist country, where a person can make a complete ass of himself in public and be praised as a patriot for it! Pat yourself on the back, my friend in freedom. You're a real American hero!

POLL: Jerusalem Arabs Prefer Living Under Israeli Sovereignty

So much for apartheid. A recent poll conducted by American Pechter Middle East Polls and the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion revealed that the majority of Arabs in East Jerusalem would prefer to live in Israel if a Palestinian state were formed.

Ynet News reports:

"The study also showed that Jerusalem's Palestinian residents were interested in keeping their Israeli Identity cards and enjoying the State's health and social benefits. Some 35% of them said that Israeli citizenship is their preferred citizenship and only 30% chose to be citizens of the future Palestinian state. An additional 30% said that they didn't know, or preferred not to answer the question.

And what would the neighbors say? When asked "if most people in your neighborhood” would prefer to become citizens of Palestine or of Israel: 31% estimated that most people prefer Palestinian citizenship; 39% estimated that most people prefer Israeli citizenship; and 30% declined to answer or said they didn’t know."

The poll has shocked a lot of people, even me. Still, it's a testament to the fact that people abroad make the conflict out a lot worse than it actually is, that they respond a lot more radically than most of the people in the thick of it.

I wonder what the anti-Zionists will say about this one.

National Emergency Declared in Israel

A forest fire has broken out in Northern Israel, claiming over 100 lives. Many more are missing, and an entire forest has been destroyed.

Several foreign countries have already pledged their support to the Jewish state, including Romania, Greece, Cyrpus, and even Turkey.

Israelis all over the country are opening their homes to those displaced by the fire.

This video is an excellent example of why I have very little respect for the hard Left (I have different reasons for disliking the hard Right).

This guy- and all the fans cheering him on in the comments- has absolutely no idea what's going on with the Ground Zero Mosque: the shadowy financial mysteries, the influence of the investors, the past rhetoric of Rauf, and so on. His Angry Liberal Holier-Than-Thou Dance starts out amusing, but gets a little sad towards the end.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Left supports the mosque purely because the Right opposes it.

As I said in an earlier post, we should not target an entire religion for the actions of a few. However, people who have taken the time to actually research the matter instead of just watching the mainstream media will discover that the details of the Ground Zero Mosque place its planners closer to radical Islam than truly moderate Islam. For example, money coming in from Qatar is going to carry Qatari-based ideologies with it into the mosque- meaning bruisingly radical Islamic ideologies. It's always been my wish to see Islamic extremism eliminated, at the very least from US soil. But not like this.

I wholly and completely oppose the Ground Zero Mosque. I don't believe its organizers are naive or empty-headed enough to think such a building, in such a sensitive area, could possibly foster outreach and understanding. I am certain their intentions are malicious and driven by the very kind of extremism they profess to oppose.

But that's just the one mosque. These others, that are facing more and more opposition from what I'm seeing to be mostly conservatives and hardcore Christians, should not necessarily be put on trial. Until proven guilty, that is.

These people have realized the blasphemous and disrespectful nature of Ground Zero Mosque for the Islamic slap in the face that it is. But they've taken it too far. Not every mosque- in the US, anyways- is a hive of terrorism.

If you read my interview with OC Apostate in the post below, you'll notice she briefly discusses a mosque in Orange County. One of its former imams preached very progressive and truly (if relatively) tolerant ideals. He was later deposed, of course, but that one man is proof enough that not all practicing Muslims are evil.

These mosque protesters that are popping up all over the country are responding to Islam in nothing more sophisticated than a knee-jerk reaction. There is no thought in it, no reasoning or strategy. They learn of the one Mega Mosque that threatens to overshadow Ground Zero, and decide that all mosques must bear the same intent. These people are acting without pause for thought, and it is really very embarrassing for those of us who are committed to the fight against Islamic extremism, and not Islam as a whole. They're like the KKK showing up at an anti-Black Panthers rally.

Yes, there are definitely mosques and imams in the US that have been found to harbor weapons and/or terrorist ideologies. For the most part, they've been handled by the FBI.

But let's not jump the gun here. I've no doubt that many of these mosques being harangued by minimally-informed if uber-patriotic Americans are in fact quite peaceful, and mean no harm. Those mosques don't deserve to be harassed. In fact, they should be empowered to help us fight the real Islamic threat.

But if we blindly attack anyone with a Quran under their arm and verbally carpet bomb an entire religion, then who are we to condemn the extremist monsters that we say commit the same exact evil?

You can't hope to win a war by raking your submachine gun back and forth across a field of people. That's how civilian casualties happen, and how their civilian peers grow to resent you and turn into more enemies. It's far more effective- and ethical- to target and take out the truly hostile individuals only.

I've been looking forward to seeing Inception since the moment I saw the trailer for it months ago. Not once did I even fear it would wither in the theater where it shone in the trailers.

I'm going to skip all the gushing and just say that I had found 3 different things when I left the theater; wild and newfound respect for Nolan, respect for DiCaprio, and a new favorite movie of all time.

The word everyone is using to describe it is "cerebral," and for good reason. This thing will turn your head inside out, psychologically and visually.

Go. Watch. Enjoy. Brutal as movie ticket prices are, I plan on going back to re-watch it.

Holding Israel to Double-Standards: Zionists Are Guilty as Well

Lately I've noticed that whenever someone attacks Israel for something illicit- an IDF soldier using a Palestinian as a human shield, for example- Zionists instantly jump to the fore and cite the numerous atrocities the Muslim and Arab world commit, insinuating in the comparison that Israel's mistakes are not nearly as bad as her enemies'.

This kind of response is half-right; but I can't help but feel that these pro-Israelis are beginning to get the idea that Israel is a heavenly and pure country, and its people incapable of sin.

Remember the old phrase, 'No one is perfect.' Well, the same can definitely be said of countries and governments, don't you think?

We are always saying that Israel deserves to be treated like every other country on Earth. Enough with the double standards! Let Israel defend her people! Stop vilifying her for acting in self-defense! But we ourselves are often guilty of reversing this double-standard policy; whenever Israel (or, to be more apt, one of her soldiers) does something overtly wrong, it's as if we try to blind ourselves to the act so that we can only see Israel's good. At the same time, we bemoan the same actions committed by other countries and militaries.

This is a fatal, hypocritical mentality. As long as we think like this, we cannot hope to successfully defend Israel in our classrooms, newspapers, and streets. Instead of confronting these wrongful acts head-on, we will always be skirting them by directing attention to the wrongdoings of Hamas and extremist Muslim/Arab groups. Diversion is not the best method of defense because it can only last for so long. So, we must confront the fact that Israel has made mistakes, and that some Israeli soldiers have indeed committed the atrocious acts we don't like to think about.

The fact is that Israel IS just like any country on Earth, especially in that she is governed and populated by humans. Humans who are, after all, only human.

Let's look at an example...

There are people in the US military who have, for whatever reason, intentionally killed Afghani or Iraqi civilians, but everyone knows it is not US military policy to do so; nor is it US government or even US social policy. There is no US document propagating the genocide of the Afghanis. Anyone who genuinely desires a genocide of the Afghani people do not reflect the sentiments of the general population but that of a small minority. So it follows that a US soldier who knowingly shoots an innocent fruit vendor in Baghdad was acting on his own behalf, not that of the US; in fact, US military policy forbade him from doing such a thing, but he did it anyway; he has "broken the rules." Such incidents reflect the individual, not the greater whole. And as we always say, Israel is a lot like the US. The same logic applies to Israel.

In the Arab and Muslim world, of course, instances of abuse and torture and the like are the general norm, against foreigners and against their own people. This is the difference between the West and the Arab/Muslim world.

Let's be real... people commit evil in every country on Earth, in every city on Earth, in every house, apartment, hut, cave, cardboard box on Earth. Israel is no different, but whenever an Israeli, often an IDF soldier, commits evil in the way of shooting an innocent civilian or using a human shield, anti-Zionists blow it out of proportion and make it seem like it's the policy of the entire state, as if Israeli society functioned like a hive. In reality it's the policy of that one individual. And because so many people make such a huge deal out of it, we feel the need to totally and completely defend Israel; acknowledging that she has faults is to acknowledge defeat because the other side is so focused on those faults.

We must remember, though, that to admit fault is not to admit we are wrong. All of us have our own faults as people, and to admit to them is not to admit being a bad person because everyone has their own faults. Having faults does not make you a lesser person; it means you are normal. And acknowledging our shortcomings serves to make us stronger individuals. So if countries and militaries are made up of people with faults, it follows that those countries and militaries will inevitably exemplify some faults as well. If we are able to admit that the IDF (made up of Israeli people) has its faults and makes mistakes, we can stop being so preoccupied in pretending they don't exist. We can instead focus on exemplifying how these faults and mistakes (human shields, killing civilians, racism, etc.) do not define Israeli government and society, and are more anomalies than they are common occurrences, just as they are in every Western society. Likewise, compare this to Arab and Muslim society, where such faults have unfortunately come to define their societies and governments. Only the delusional and uninformed can believe that instances of racism and violence are isolated incidents in the Arab/Muslim world; the tower of evidence to the contrary is staggering in the behemoth shadow it casts over us.

I realize that I'm simply describing the "double-standard problem" that Israel is always subjected to, but a lot of us (me included) can easily be sucked in to believing Israel is incapable of doing wrong. It's an easy habit to fall into without even noticing, and it can stem from having to constantly defend Israel and focus on her good features.

So please, let's be honest with ourselves: instances of IDF soldiers using human shields, abusing Palestinians, etc. DO happen, (remember, the Israelis are only human) but what differentiate them from Hamas and the Arabs is that these instances don't reflect military, government policy, or social norms. Where they are anomalies in Israeli/Western society, they are common practice in the Arab/Muslim world. What's more, not only are foreigners victim to these practices in the Arab and Muslim world, but so are many, way too many Arabs and Muslims as well. But it's important to keep in mind that this is not a result primarily of religion or creed; first and foremost, it's because they're human.

As Romanian punk vocalist/guitarist/moustache extraordinaire Eugene Hutz once chastised, "It is easier to see evil as entity... not as condition inside of you and me."

Frank Sinatra's Love Affair With the Jews

Here's something for you Sinatra fans. Very cool history... turns out Ol' Blue Eyes was a pretty great friend to the Jews.

Francis Albert Sinatra (1915-1998) may have been one of America 's most famous Italian Catholics, but he kept the Jewish people and the State of Israel close to his heart, manifesting life-long commitments to fighting anti-Semitism and to activism on behalf of Israel.

Sinatra stepped forward in the early 1940s, when big names were needed to rouse America into saving Europe's remaining Jews, and he sang at an "Action for Palestine " rally (1947). He sat on the board of trustees of the Simon Wiesenthal Center ; and he donated over $1 million to Jerusalem 's Hebrew University , which honored him by dedicating the Frank Sinatra International Student Center . (The Center made heartbreaking headlines when terrorists bombed it in 2002, killing nine people.) As the result of his support for the Jewish State, his movies and records were banned in some Arab countries. Sinatra helped Teddy Kollek, later the long-serving mayor of Jerusalem but then a member of the Haganah, by serving as a $1 million money-runner that helped Israel win the war.

The Copacabana Club, which was very much run and controlled by the same Luciano-related New York mafia crowd with whom Sinatra had become enmeshed, happened to be next door to the hotel out of which Haganah members were operating. In his autobiography, Kollek relates how, trying in March 1948 to circumvent an arms boycott imposed by President Harry Truman on the Jewish fighters in Eretz Yisroel, he needed to smuggle about $1 million in cash to an Irish ship captain docked in the Port of New York. The young Kollek spotted Sinatra at the bar and, afraid of being intercepted by federal agents, asked for help. In the early hours of the morning, the singer went out the back door with the money in a paper bag and successfully delivered it to the pier.

The origins of Sinatra's love affair with the Jewish people are not clear but, for years, the Hollywood icon wore a small mezuzah around his neck, a gift from Mrs. Golden, an elderly Jewish neighbor who cared for him during his boyhood in Hoboken, N.J. (years later, he honored her by purchasing a quarter million dollars' worth of Israel bonds). He protected his Jewish friends, once responding to an anti-Semitic re mark at a party by simply punching the offender. Time magazine reported that Sinatra walked out on the christening of his own son when the priest refused to allow a Jewish friend to be the godfather. Faisal Shahzad, the Pakistani-born US Muslim suspected of orchestrating the attempted bombing of Times Square of May 1st, has told U.S. District Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum that he "pleads guilty 100 times and more."

"One has to understand where I'm coming from," Shahzad calmly told [the judge], who challenged him repeatedly with questions such as whether he worried about killing children in Times Square. "I consider myself ... a Muslim soldier."

The 30-year-old described his effort to set off a bomb in an SUV he parked in Times Square on May 1, saying he chose the warm Saturday night because it would be crowded with people who he could injure or kill.
Shahzad dismissed the judge's question about the children by saying the U.S. didn't care when children were killed in Muslim countries.

This has become a disturbing spectacle in terrorism suspect trials; the suspect shows absolutely no remorse for his intentions and happily pleads guilty to plans of mass murder.

These people, for lack of a better word, like Shahzad consider citizens of entire countries to be soldiers in a war if that country is engaged in war. In their minds, they are not attacking innocents; they are attacking military targets. Shazad's sentiments of being a "Muslim soldier" are literal.

Whether these vermin truly believe in such a flawed perspective or have merely fooled themselves into doing so , I can't say for sure; it may be one or the other, or it may be both.

Suffice to say I think all the recent hoo-hah around the Gaza flotillas is utter excrement. It really and truly disturbs me that so many people can watch the video of what went down (assuming they've actually done so) and still fail to see the need for self-defense. Go out and get a new pair of prescription glasses or something. Use binoculars. Geez.

Anyways. The Kurdistan flotilla.

This is definitely something that won't be getting the press coverage it deserves. I guarantee it.

Looks like all the recent Gaza flotillas have inspired a Free Kurdistan movement to emulate them for the people in Kurdistan. I don't know much about the region or its history, except that it's under Turkish control, "occupation". Doubtless many parallels can be drawn between it and the conflict around Israel. Just another example of the double-standards the Jewish state is held to.

And yet I'm sure all the brazen flotilla-bandwagonists won't even give the poor Turkish-oppressed Kurds a second thought. You can forget about international attention.

English Defense League Uncovered

Thanks to an anonymous reader, I realized the documentary I've posted here is flagrantly biased, and treats the EDL as badly as the KKK. I certainly am not disregarding the EDL as a racist organization, only the racist members of it. This documentary should be taken with a grain of salt, as it is the only one I can find.

Every organization has its extremists and racists, and should not be defined by them if it is in general a peaceful movement. The extremists must be condemned, not the movement as a whole. That's what this blog is about, after all.

Can't how I feel about this just yet... a right-wing English movement that has exploded onto the streets of London determined to protect Britain from Shariah Law. I support the cause, but I'm not liking the extremism and racism the video unearths. Of course, the video is flagrantly biased against the group, so they've probably purposely focused on the bad aspects of the group while excluding the positive. It's definitely not to be considered the primary source on the EDL.

I saw this coming though. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The British government has appeased Muslim radicals in their country for years. Societally speaking, this is the only next logical expectation. It might or might not be 100% morally right, but hey, neither are the jihadis.

I'm curious to know what you all think.

As I'm sure you all know by now, Jumanah Albahri told David Horowitz on May 10th that she was "For it" in regards to Hezbollah's statement: "We hope the world's Jews gather in Israel so we will not have to hunt them down." This is flagrant support for a second Holocaust. (The video is posted somewhere down yonder.)

There is a group on Facebook calling on UCSD Chancellor Fox to condemn Albahri's remarks for the hateful and dangerous rhetoric that it is.

Within the group is also a petition to Chancellor Fox to condemn said remarks.

Evidence That MSU Planned to Disrupt Ambassador Oren

This recent article by Investigative Project on Terrorism just came out detailing a string of e-mails anonymously sent to UCI admin and law enforcement. The e-mails spell out in detail a painstakingly orchestrated plan to disrupt Ambassador Oren when he came to UCI on Feb 8th. UCI admin and police are currently working to check on the authenticity of the letters.

I'm not holding my breath to see the MSU get what they deserve- even in the face of this evidence. Still, let's give it time. Maybe UCI will finally surprise us.

Psychology of the MSU

By no means am I saying that's all there is to them. I may even do another piece exploring their mindset further. It was kind of a fun project, putting myself in their shoes. If a little freaky.

One correction I wish I had made before submitting it for publication...

I'm not 100% sure about the "defend, don't attack" method I espouse. I based it primarily on hearing what the common, uninvolved UCI student feels about the political tension on campus.

What I should have said: if rallying, protesting, organizing, etc. against Islamic extremism or related topics, do not organize "against" it. Rather, organize "for" something.

Organize for women's rights, gay rights, religious minority rights, etc. in the Muslim world.

Show that you're supporting something, rather than demonizing something else. People always, always, always respond better to a positive message than a negative one.

It's no secret that somewhere along the line a few years back, The Simpsons stopped being funny. I have no idea when since I only watched the show only a little more than half-heartedly, but I'd say season 9. In the past year or so, it's gotten funny again, though the humor is really different than before. I'm guessing they got new writers.

Anyways. I just saw this JPost article. Even if I had still given up on the Simpsons by now, it's reason enough to watch this one episode. I'm glad the show is funny again; a Simpsons Israel episode definitely deserves to be funny.

Oh, and happy late St. Patrick's day! This at least is one thing to look forward to after college; I can finally start celebrating it with Guinness and pinches instead of textbooks and essays. It always falls around finals season for us college folk.

Here is a MEMRI interview with an influential Islamic figure in the UK. Note that the reporter had to don a hijab just to get the interview.

Some of his answers are absolutely petrifying. "Freedom" needs to be destroyed? Are you f*cking serious? Why does he want Islam in the government? Why not keep it to the masses, where religion belongs?

I don't even need to answer it. Choudary admits he wants to turn the UK into an Islamic caliphate, which would then become part of the global Islamic caliphate.

When will Islamists understand we don't want to be liberated from our debauchery and sin? We LIKE debauchery and sin. And if enjoying that damns us to eternal hellfire, well gosh dern it Scooter, I'm willing to take that chance. I don't know if he genuinely believes he'd be helping us all live a better life if he converted us to Islam, but all I have to do is point to any Muslim or Arab country in the Middle East, or any Islamic fundamentalist community. There is no freedom to be found in any of those places. Women are treated like dirt. Gays and Jews (and oftentimes Christians and non-Muslims) are tormented or killed for not being Islamic. And if one Muslim doesn't like another Muslim's Islam, it's grounds for murder (see: the Sunni vs. Shi'ite conflict).

The UK is already becoming infamous for its growing cesspool of Islamic fundamentalism. And their skyhigh birthrate is not making things any better. Sooner or later, when Islamic radicals like this Looney Tune start challenging the Parliament, it will force the government to react.

Unfortunately, the only way I see the problem of creeping Shariah being solved is through forced deportation.

Think about it. World governments are reluctant to address the fast-growing problem of Islamic fundamentalism. And you can bet your ass they'r egoing to keep shutting their eyes until they hear a scimitar knocking on the door.

What then?

What can you possibly do in 2020, 2030, or 2040 when half the UK demands the government be dismantled and replaced with a theocratic regime? What can you do when they will not take "no" for an answer, they will not assimilate into the society they've immigrated to, and they will not compromise?

The only answer is forcible removal. Call me a pessimist, but this is the path I see things going down. I'd like to believe that someday Islamic radicals will learn to assimilate into society and get along with non-Muslims. But I'd be a naive moron. That's not what's happening.

Let's just pray the next US president is wise to what's going on. I think it's safe to say by this point we won't have to deal with HOPE! CHANGE! HOPE! for a second term.

North Korean Ship Halted Delivering Illicit Arms to Iran

The United Arab Emirates has seized a cargo ship earlier this month bound for Iran with a cache of banned arms from North Korea, the first such seizure since sanctions against North Korea were ramped up, diplomats and officials told The Associated Press on Friday.

Interesting that it was the UAE who seized the ship. Good to see them holding up their end.

UK Bank Charges Non-Muslims More Than Muslims

In a clear-cut case of European Islamization, a UK bank has been accused of charging its non-Muslim clients more than its Muslim clients... and hides behind the noble cause of "religious tolerance".

Daily Mail reports:

Many Lloyds TSB customers are being hit with charges of up to £200 a month if they go into the red - while Muslims who use the bank are only being charged £15...

Graham Milne, a customer and chartered accountant from Norham, Northumberland, said difference in fees was tantamount to 'religious discrimination'.

He added: 'This means that all the non-Islamic account holders are subsidising those with such an account. It strikes me as something which is bordering on illegal.

The bank reasons that its blatant act of religious discrimination merely stems from its no-interest form of banking for Muslims, as Shariah law dictates Muslims must not pay interest (Muhammad thought of everything, didn't he?) Consequently, the bank has deemed it perfectly legal and acceptable to discriminate between its customers.

If Europe fails to stop this discriminatory garbage, I think we can all count on witnessing a civil uprising in Europe within the next 10 years.

Those Basterds

I must admit I've spent the last month looking forward to Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" with the enthusiasm of a 12 year-old girl following the next "Twilight" movie- or that of a 19 year-old girl; disturbingly, there's not much difference.

From what commercials I'd seen, I walked into the theater expecting 2 hours of Brad Pitt killing the uncensored and glorious crap out of Nazi after Nazi. Which would have left me more than satisfied.

Sad to say, by the end, there hadn't been nearly as much Pitt-on-Nazi violence as I'd've liked. There was some, but not nearly enough from what I was expecting. The movie is more plot-oriented rather than violence-focused- which I guess is the true mark of a great filmmaker; Tarantino didn't succumb to the temptation of making a 2 hour Nazi holocaust- and there are some pretty long scenes, Pulp Fiction style. Unfortunately, most of these scenes are full of superficial pleasantries exchanged between Nazis and Basterds disguised as Nazis and reveal very little about the characters, whereas in Pulp Fiction, the long conversations focused on more thought-provoking topics and helped us glean some information from the characters (What do they call a quarter-pounder.in France?) Too much of the movie feels wasted on this pointless banter, instigated primarily by the SS Detective introduced in the beginning as his sort of cat-and-mouse game with his suspects. These polite conversations drag on just long enough until the viewer begins to feel bored, but are then thankfully ended with a hostile twist in the conversation or a violent scene.

Pitt is grossly underutilized in this movie. His character, a Western-accented American Colonel with a mind focused on killin' them Nehtzis, shines brightest in the first (and really, only) scene between the Basterds and a group of Nazis they've captured. Pitt is calm and amusingly relaxed when informing the Nazis of the choices they have; do what the Basterds want, or die a painful, painful death. Most of the Jewish-American men Pitt has chosen to accompany him on his Nazi hunting spree rarely display any emotional animosity one would expect towards the Nazis, and instead laugh at their bigoted insults as an executioner laughs at a name the man on the chopping block has called him. Unfortunately, the story's plot doesn't allow for any more than one of these scenes, which is what the majority of the commercials advertised. Pitt offers an engaging performance, but sadly the film doesn't realize it to its full potential.

The plotline also follows one Shosana, a French Jew who escaped a Nazi shooting gallery of her family at a farm in the French countryside. After moving to Nazi-occupied Paris, Shosana opens up a cinema and eventually falls into the situation of hosting a premiere for Josef Goebbels new movie. The premiere will be attended by 350 top-ranking officials of the Nazi party. Shosana quickly becomes determined to burn down the entire theater with all 350 Nazis trapped inside. Meanwhile, Pitt and the Basterds undertake a mission to blow up the same theater with the same objectives. The Basterds and Shosana never meet, however, which allows for some loos threads after the climax of the movie. "Inglorious Basterds" is ultimately about assassinating the four topmost members of the Nazi high command (including Hitler and Goebbels) more than it is about bloody and explicit Jew-on-Nazi brutality

Not to say Basterds was a bad movie; it was great, it had several of its funny moments, and the acting is high-tier (though the German accent of the SS Detective sounds as authentic as a cardboard violin and twice as bland). And the comedic moments are funny enough to keep the entire theater laughing long after the joke's done. Just don't go into it expecting mass amounts of violence and Nazi-killing, or a great deal of Pitt screen-time. People should expect more "Pulp Fiction" than "Kill Bill".

Oh, and Mike Myers makes a surprise appearance.

Sweden Revives Ancient Anti-Semitic Blood Libels

Sweden’s embassy in Tel Aviv has sharply condemned Sweden’s largest circulation newspaper Aftonbladet for publishing an article accusing the Israeli Defence Forces of harvesting the organs of Palestinians…

Published on Monday, the article by photographer and writer Donald Boström accuses the Israeli army of involvement in the illegal human organ trade.

And that's not all:

Aftonbladet’s culture editor Åsa Linderborg defended the publication and expressed surprise at the strong reactions in Israel.

“It surprises me really. The questions that it raises are nothing new....”

I'll trust that the irony of a culture editor publishing and defending bigoted blood libels does not escape any one of you.

Here's another bit about an Israeli tennis player who visited Sweden to play the Davis tennis cup:

On Saturday when Israel played Sweden in a Davis cup tennis match in Malmö, an estimated 6,000 Leftists, Arabs, Muslims and anarchists protested the Israeli presence in the city, and hundreds attacked police. Almost no fans were allowed inside to watch the tennis series, because authorities feared disruptions or possible violence against the Israeli team.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a word for generalizing an entire ethnicity based on the actions- however misinterpreted- carried out by only a small percentage of said ethnicity?

Oh yeah.

Racism.

It was a f*cking tennis player, not an IDF soldier. What was their excuse? That she would have turned on the crowd and started lobbing tennis balls at the Palestinians in the audience? Is a tennis match really worth attacking the police over?

I hope Sweden is embarrassed of itself. I sure as hell would be if a US newspaper ever published anything about blood libels. In fact, I'll be surprised if we already haven't.

Articles about anti-terrorism Muslims are like smack. I just had to go out and find some more.

Talk about ironic. Remember those Muslim douchebags who crashed the homecoming parade of British soldiers returning from Iraq with shouts of 'baby killers' and likeminded garbage? It seems they've managed to piss off even their own community.

Daily Mail reports:

As the radical Muslims began to set up their stall, they were surrounded by a [Muslim] crowd shouting 'we don't want you here' and 'move on, move on'.

Angry words were exchanged and scuffles broke out between members of both groups, with the extremists shouting 'Shame on you' and 'Get back to your synagogue'.

Nothing less from Islamic fundamentalists. But these Muslim "moderates", if they are to be labeled such, are continuing to surprise me. Hopefully this is not an isolated incident. More hopefully, these "moderates" are not the same ones Islamizing Europe (who are worse than the extremists, if you ask me) and actually just want to get on with their lives.

This article by Ryan Mauro over at Pajamas Media discussing Muslim moderates across the Muslim world rejecting terrorism is certainly cause for an increase of hope in such intimidating times. Ryan uses the recent political defeat of Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Mumbai imams who denounced terrorism after the Mumbai attacks as examples, among others.

Ryan writes:

On May 16, four women were elected to Kuwait’s parliament and the Islamists were handed a political defeat. The Islamic Constitutional Movement, a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Islamic Salafi Alliance lost four seats. They now only hold three of the 50 seats in parliament.

This is music to long-battered ears, make no mistake. It's wonderful that we are receiving help from the Muslim world in fighting Islamic extremism.

Whether or not these are the same "moderates" who demand that their local hospitals are cleansed of all depictions of Christianty and Judaism; that their jobs give them 5 prayer breaks a day; that refuse to ring up pork products at supermarkets; and that refuse to pick up people carrying alcohol or dogs in their raxis, however, I cannot tell you and can only hope.

A lot of the time, you'll hear terrorist sympathizers and Muslim fundamentalists (which are quite lacking in difference) bemoan the "foreign presence" in Iraq and excuse suicide attacks as a form of resistance to it. The same argument has been made to excuse Hamas' acts of terror on Israeli civilians.

But does this sound like a mentality focused on resisting a foreign occupier? Yahoo! News reports:

If you ever need additional proof of the bloodlust and sub-human genocidal berserker mindset that possesses militant Islam's finest, or to understand just why Israel invests so much money in its military, have a look-see at this Israel National News article from 2004 describing- in explicit detail- some of the worst (and it's hard to choose) terror attacks to taint Israeli soil- and the history of humankind.

The most stomach-churning example of Islamic terrorism in the article concerns an incident in 2000, shortly after Mohammad al-Durah was "killed" and drove the Islamic world into a frothing frenzy. A pair of lost IDF soldiers were unfortunate enough to wind up in Ramallah. I've heard about how a crowd of Palestinians chased them into a building and eventually killed them. I've even heard the words "brutal" and "graphic" used in describing how they were killed.

What I did not hear- and a quick Google search of "Palestinian entrails israeli ramallah" will attest to this (for those with especially strong stomachs, try an Image search)- was the horrifying and cannibalistic way in which these so-called people murdered the soldiers. Throw in the bit about one of the murderers/cannibals answering one of the IDF soldiers' phone with "We are killing your husband" and you not only have a morally despicable crowd but a bunch of viciously sadistic assholes, too.

So Mousavi, Ahmadinejad's hard-line opponent in Iran's elections, seemed like a very probable next Iranian president, until today. Right after the elections closed, with Ahmadinejad being declared the winner (can someone say, "Rigged"?), Mousavi was arrested. The incident has sparked humongous rioting in Tehran. Had Mousavi been elected, it would not have drastically changed key Iranian policies, such as their nuclear program, but as Mousavi isa reformist, it would have been far better than another term of our Arabian Hitler.

Know what would be ironic? If this outrageous scandal ignited the Iranian reformist movement the country has needed for so long.

Multiculturalism gone wrong.

Women Against Shariah has posted this very interesting story about a feud stoked to flames in a Toronto apartment building- all because one man , Matthew Coutts, had the audacity to greet a Muslim wife with a friendly "good morning." Matt describes himself as hugely friendly man, one who runs errans for unfamiliar neighbors in the pouring rain and strikes up storms of conversations in the laundry room. Your typical, outgoing, well-meaning neighbor. But when he greeted the wife of the new Muslim couple across the hall, they confronted Matt and demanded that he not speak to the wife nor look at her.

Now, make no mistake. I'm not calling this couple a pair of jihadi-crazed Islamic radicals. But their behavior is exemplary of a disturbing trend we've seen growing among the more fundamentalist Muslim immigrants in the Western world over the past 6 or 7 years; a refusal to integrate into the societies they immigrate to.

This is no isolated example. Just take a look at Britain; where it had its own British culture 5 years ago, it's now steeped in Shariah-like culture. Look at Michigan, too.

For anyone who's pounding their desk screaming 'racist' right now, let me put it to you in another context; Mexican immigrants, legal or not, cross into America in search of work so they can make money to send back to their poverty-stricken families in Mexico. Many Asian immigrants- Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc.- come here for similar reasons.

But they INTEGRATE. They adapt to their surroundings, and respect their home-away-from-home's culture and social laws. Many of these Mexican and Asian families hold on to their cultural roots in America. Many of them don't even speak English. That's fine. That's America.

But when you come to this country, demand that your boss give you 5 breaks a day to pray, demand that your local hospital remove a cross depicting Jesus Christ because it offends your religion, and get into fights over a friendly, everyday "Good morning", it all belies an ulterior reluctance to integrate into the society you've thrust yourself into. If someone moves to a country, they need to be ready to learn the cultural and social laws of the land. At the very least, they better damn well learn to accept them. If I moved to Saudi Arabia tomorrow, I'm not about to expect the entire Saudi community change their way of life to make me feel more at home. If I wasn't comfortable in a foreign setting, then I have no business traveling to Saudi Arabia in the first place.

If adaptation is necessary, then it's the immigrant's job to adapt to a foreign society, not the other way around.

The sad fact is that for these fundamentalist Muslims, multiculturalism is a one-way street. They're operating under this belief that their host countries owe it to them to flip the mountains upside down and alter the orbit of the sun to make them feel more comfortable. No, no one should have to give up their roots and personal way of life when moving to a new country. But don't impose on the country that was gracious enough to bring you in, be it America, Kurdistan, or South Korea.

I love experiencing foreign culture. It's my dream to travel the world and immerse myself in different cultures. I would love nothing more than to travel abroad and throw myself into Japan, France, India, Greece, even a more moderate Arab country for a couple years. But when I do, I'm not about to demand that my host country and its citizens change their ways of life just to suit me.

Yes, Muslim immigrants have the freedom to come to the United States and keep to their own culture. As they should. And I'm sure they're wonderful people. But they do not have the right to forbid us from enjoying our own. If you come to America, be prepared to deal with an American society.

The first prime minister in years to appear at the venerable yeshiva on Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day), he ignored U.S. President Barack Obama’s apparent trial balloon that he wants to see the United Nations flag fly over the Old City holy sites.

Nevermind the insult of the suggestion to fly the flag of the UN over Jerusalem in place of an Israeli flag when the UN has been so obsessed with damning Israel and holding it to insane double-standards. Nevermind the audacity and slap in the face such a suggestion entails. Nevermind that.

Anyone who's been following Obama's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can spot from a mile away the ulterior goal of Obama's desire to have a UN flag flying over Jerusalem. First comes the flag, next a suggestion of constructing a UN building in Jerusalem, then giving that building some legal authority in the city, and before you know it Israel has lost control of Jerusalem so that part of it can be given to Fatah to placate their insane demand of East Jerusalem. Which begs the question... how stupid does Obama think Bibi is?

Bibi's response is music to the ears, soothing for the soul and reassuring on the mind. Bless this man for having the courage to stand up for Israel and say 'No' to Obama. A man of this caliber has been a long time coming to Israel in this modern day.

Prosecutors Richard Gregorie and Jacqueline Arango focused on the group's intent as captured on dozens of FBI audio and video recordings. Batiste [one of the convicted men] is repeatedly heard espousing violence against the U.S. government and saying the men should start a "full ground war" that would "kill all the devils."

"I want to fight some jihad," Batiste says on one tape.

A key piece of evidence is an FBI video of the entire group pledging an oath of allegiance, or "bayat," to al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden in a March 16, 2006, ceremony led by an Arabic-speaking FBI informant posing as "Brother Mohammed" from al-Qaida. Testimony also showed the men took photographs and video of possible targets in Miami, including the FBI building, a courthouse complex and a synagogue.

So not only do we have to worry about Muslim beserkers embedding themselves in our society, but now we have to worry about Americans who are braindead enough to listen the ranting of said beserkers.

I'd give more commentary, but I'm running on three hours of sleep at the moment. You guys are smart enough to understand this without my bitching, though.

Roxana Saberi, the journalist and 1997 Miss North Dakota that Iran had jailed for bogus espionage charges, is now free.

Why Iran's government would act in the way of logic, I can only guess. Most likely to placate the US and buy some more time to develop its nuke.

According to Mr. Khorramshahi, the judges explicitly stated in their verdict that Ms. Saberi could be released because "there was no animosity between Iran and the United States."

"No animosity". Who do they think they're fooling, with their clown of a president talking shit about the US everyday?

Either way, Ms. Saberi is free to leave Iran. Thank God for small miracles.

AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington DC

For those of you who don't know, AIPAC is the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee. It's the largest pro-Israel lobby in America and has brought in guest speakers like Barack Obama (I'll take what I can get), Bill & Hillary Clinton, and George W. Bush.

The Policy Conference is spread over the course of three days. It's primarily made up of lectures in Israel advocacy, and is hosted in the Washington Convention Center (an em-effing hayooj building) in DC. I attended lectures on the sort of language to use when advocating for Israel and the threat of Islamic radicalism to the world. I had scheduled a lecture addressing why Christians are so faithful to Israel, but I ended up going to see the monuments and memorials (Washington, Lincoln, WWII, etc.) instead.

Each day was started off early in the morning with a formal seminar in the main ballroom, less than half of which easily held over 7,000 Zionists, both Jewish and goyim. Shimon Peres himself came to speak to us on the second day before his visit to the White House the next day. Benjamin Netenyahu spoke to us live via satellite at a gala that same night, 3 AM Israel time. John Kerry and Joe Biden spoke the following morning amidst a visit from over half of Congress and half of the House of Representatives.

The third day ended with everyone travelling to Capitol Hill to lobby their senators for support for 2 bills:

1) Imposing sanctions on any US company that does business with Iran (to stop their nuclear bomb)
2) Giving $2.775 billion in foreign aid to Israel (less than 1% of the foreign aid budget)

While in Capitol Hill, I met the CEO of computer gaming giant Blizzard, Michael Morhaime. Needless to say, I was more than a little surprised to shake his hand at a pro-Israel lobby meeting.

The experience was amazing, to say the least. I was able to experience Washington DC and its gorgeous architecture for the first time and made a lot of important contacts, including those of congressmen. I highly suggest going next year. AIPAC helps pay the cost of the trip, hotel, and conference registraion costs (a total that can run as high as $750) for college students it has noticed making a commitment to the pro-Israel community.

More importantly, though, the conference was soothing for the soul. As someone who has to deal with anti-Israel rhetoric almost daily, being around 7,000 Zionist delegates and seeing Joe Biden speak in support of us did wonders for a tired and worn dedication. We're not alone.

Five US Muslims Sentenced to Life for Mass Murder Conspiracy

A group of five Muslims have been convicted on charges of plotting to slaughter military personnel at Fort Dix. All five "men" are receiving life sentences.

24 year-old cab driver Mohamed Shnewer of Cherry Hill, New Jersey is the latest to be convicted in the plot, having been caught on tape by an FBI informant talking about attacking the United States. His defense?

Shnewer told the judge that he talked like a jihadist, but didn't have what it takes to be one.

As all conspirators are being jailed for life, the judge appears to have been too smart to fall for such garbage. Still, I wonder how many liberals would actually stand for treasonous acts like talking about attacking your own country. It's free speech, after all.

This is just another incident of the many different forms of jihadis out there. Some wrap themselves up in plastic explosives and run into a pizza parlor. Others talk about doing so. But how long will it take those who only talk about it to finally act on their murderous threats? And I'm sure they aren't averse to donating money, information, or time to terrorist organizations.

French Jew Tortured to Death by Muslim Group of 27 Youths

Today's post is meant as an especially big 'Fuck you' to people who excuse Islamic violence because jihadis "are only a minority of Muslims".

I really don't know why these stories get such little attention.

Ilan Halimi was a 23 year-old French Jew kidnapped by 27 Muslims and tortured to death in 2006. Their closed-doors trial began today in Paris in a juvenile court, as some of the Muslims were still minors at the time of the crime.

The 23-year-old victim, Ilan Halimi was found naked, handcuffed and covered with burn marks near railroad tracks in the Essonne region south of Paris on Feb. 13, 2006. He died on the way to the hospital after being held captive for more than three weeks.

Youssouf Fofana, 28-year-old presumed leader of a group of 10 young women and 17 young men, stands accused of a crime that shocked the nation. He is charged with premeditated murder, demanding ransom, and acts of torture and barbarism, and faces a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
He smiled as he took his seat in the Paris court and said, "Allah will be victorious."

Fofana and his cohorts are also charged with attempting to kidnap other people, including Jews, and hold them for ransom.

But it's okay! Because jihadi Muslims (those who actually make good on their threats) are not the majority of the Muslim world. So we should just chalk this up as a regular ol' kidnapping, torturing, and murder. It had nothing to do with Islam. Just forget about the suffering they forced on this Jew, probably with glee, and write him down as another statistic.

No. That's sick. The people who read these news stories and then refuse to acknowledge them as religious hate crimes when they so plainly are, are the reasons why innocent people such as Ilan Halimi are dying every day at the hands of the most intolerant and hateful people on Earth. They aid and abet these monsters by remaining silent and politically correct. Then they hoist themselves up on a pedestal and look down on everyone else, because they know they're tolerant, and that they accept everyone and anyone. They smile as they realize this, and feel a sense of self-elation.

Then a Muslim walks over and stabs them in the throat and they wonder how they didn't see it coming.

Why are people so quick to excuse rapists, torturers, murders, and pedopheliacs only when those acts are committed out of a religious zeal? They damn "normal" murders and rapes. So when some cook gibbers "Allah Akbar!" as he rapes a Canadian reporter, or detonates himself in a Baghdad marketplace, why don't they acknowledge that "Allah Akbar!" for what it is? It's that cry of religious bloodthirst that a Muslim screams as he forces a woman to the ground or depresses his thumb on the trigger that sets him apart from normal criminals. And the people who ignore that cry for what it is only serve to usher us closer to our graves.

Muslim Student Union respect for Judaism

Every May, the Musim Student Union (a.k.a Muslim Student Association) on UC Irvine's campus hosts a week of anti-Israel events. Last year they had the audacity to name it the "Palestinian Holocaust", and spit in the face of very Zionist and Jewish student on campus by ripping holes in an Israeli flag, spattering it with red paint, and singwing it with fire (not pictured above). Their anti-Israel week is infamous for inviting virulently anti-Semitic and slanderous speakers such as the always-amusing Norman Finkelstein and Jew-hating Malik Ali.

While this year is looking to be fairly weak (only 5 events spread out over the entire month of May), the MSU is flaunting a list of co-sponsors, many of which have no business supporting a Muslim-run event. Here's the list:

EDIT: Case in point, president of The Agora, Oren Klein, has already posted a short letter to the MSU regarding his wish to withdraw The Agora from their list of co-sponsors. He writes:

As the President of The Agora, I politely ask you to remove us as a sponsoring organization.

We do not condone partisan support. We support open dialogue and communication of all parties and refrain from choosing sides. We encourage your group to consider including an open public forum and debate, of which we certainly support.

I am in favor of the cause of freedom, and truly believe that the situation can be resolved peacefully. Though educating our students on worldwide issues is a number one priority of The Agora, addressing the issue from an antagonistic and xenophobic perspective is counterproductive and ferments conflict.

We encourage your organization to work towards mediation and communication, understanding and cooperation, and would like to learn more about the history of genocide; including the current crisis in Darfur, the past Armenian genocide, and the Nazi extermination camps alongside the Palestinian cause.

Iranian Delegate Screams at Eli Wiesel

As if to underline the anti-Semitic undertones of Durban II, an Iranian delegate to the garbage Durban II conference in Geneva screamed and railed against Nobel Prize laureate and Holocaust survivor Eli Wiesel, calling him a "Zionazi".

A member of Iran's official delegation to the UN's anti-racism conference verbally assaulted Shoah survivor and Nobel Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel in Geneva, referring to him as a "Zionazi." The incident was captured on film by Sergio Wider of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. The video features the Iranian official repeatedly screaming at Wiesel, who chose to remain silent and ignore the reprehensible comments.

The most ironic part of this is that there will be no riots in Jewish communities, no riots in Israel. Why? Because unlike the Muslims who rioted in response to the Mohammad cartoons- they're still doing it even two years later- the people such as myself who will undoubtedly be offended by this racist's namecalling believe in his right to paint himself a blithering idiot (free speech).

It seems like with each passing Yom Hashoah, it's becoming more and more important to bring attention to it (not that it never was, oh no); world leaders denying that the Holocaust ever happened and suggesting 15+ million people just vanished into thin air, people throwing around the accusation that Israel is a direct result of the Holocaust, people calling for a new Holocaust...

On this Yom Hashoah, please take a small break from your day to go to a memorial service, buy a Yartzheit candle, or just say a quick prayer. Tell a friend who might not know much about the Holocaust the significance of today, and how achingly important it is that we never forget the monstrous crimes and lethal indifference we as a human race are capable of.

On a personal level, I can hardly be described as a religious Jew. I love cheeseburgers and do not attend synagogue as much as I should. And yet I still feel pride when I say the Sh'ma, still feel a driving love when I see the Israeli flag- the same motivating love I feel when I see the Stars and Stripes. And I still feel a connection to the Jewish community, not only because of my affinity for Jewish culture but because of Judaic history. I'm a much better Zionist than I am a Jew, but it's still my proud obligation as both to help better the Jewish community and make the world a better place for us to live in, because God knows no one else is going to do it for us.

The Holocaust and Yom Hashoah are especially important in this regard. 6 million of us were rounded up and slaughtered like so much cattle. 6 million, for being Jewish. Did you know that if not for the Holocuast, there would be 32 million Jews in the world today? Anti-Semitism could very well be something we place on the back burner (but never remove).

As Jews, we take our knowledge and information of the Holocaust for granted. We know about it because it affected us. But what do most Hindus and Catholics, Buddhists and Ba'Hai, know about it, other than 6 million Jews died? So many people categorize the Holocaust only in that way, the death of 6 million Jews, but there's so much more to it. The cruelty, detachment from morality, inhumanity, the willing indifference of man. Instead of organizing in outrage, whole nations allied themselves with Hitler simply so he wouldn't do to them what he was doing to the Jews.

So on this Yom Hashoah, explain today's importance to someone who may not understand why we dwell on something that happened over 60 years ago. Explain to them that it wasn't just Jews, but blacks and gyspies, too. Gays, Poles, Slavs, disabled, mentally handicapped, Freemasons. It goes on. And they weren't targeted for their political affiliations, not as some military or political strategy. They were targeted just because they had the audacity to be. The world might have chosen the Jews as its favorite martyr, but it's not hesitant to make other people suffer with us.

Iran Arrests US Reporter, Obama Wags Finger

An Iranian-American journalist detained in Iran since late January 2009 and accused of espionage went on trial this week and a verdict is expected soon, the Iranian judiciary said on April 14, 2009.

I've been following the status of Iranian-American US reporter Roxana Saberi for a few months now, and her fate isn't looking to be too good. Ahmadinejad figures he's doing this woman a service by allowing her a 'full defense' for a fabricated crime. Saberi faces 8 years in an Iranian prison on charges of espionage.

Oh please, Mahmoud.

Some backstory: Ms. Saberi is 1997 Miss North Dakota, born in Fargo. As she is part Iranian, Saberi traveled to Iran in 2003 to work as a freelance reporter for news organizations such as National Public Radio and the BBC (given her situation, let's cut Saberi some slack for that). According to her father, Saberi has been working on a book about Iranian culture.

Saberi was arrested back in January shortly after she purchased a bottle of wine. It's only gotten worse since then:

Iran has released few details about the charges against the [Saberi]. Saberi was arrested in January and initially accused of working without press credentials. But earlier this month, an Iranian judge leveled a more serious allegation that she was passing classified information to U.S. intelligence services.

Her parents... traveled to Iran to seek her release. Her father, Reza Saberi, has said his daughter wasn't allowed a proper defense during her one-day trial behind closed doors a week ago. He said no evidence has been made public, and his daughter was tricked into making incriminating statements by officials who told her they would free her if she did.
He told CNN on Sunday that her trial lasted only 15 minutes. "It was a mock trial," he said.

One Iranian analyst said Ahmadinejad's letter was politically motivated and suggested Iran could be using Saberi's case to gain leverage with the U.S.

"Iran can use Saberi's case as a bargaining card in possible negotiations with the U.S.," said analyst Saeed Leilaz.

Aside from the fact that Ahmadinejad is a world-class asshole, it's very plausible that he's using this woman as fodder for future political engagement with the US. As you can see, it's clear that the number of charges they pulled out of thin air, moving from a lack of credentials to espionage, has no basis at all. What would Miss North Dakota 1997 be doing spying for the US in Iran?

And as you can expect, our Head of State has done everything short of demanding Saberi's return:

President Barack Obama said Sunday he was "gravely concerned" about Saberi's safety and well-being and was confident she wasn't involved in espionage. The U.S. has called the charges baseless and said Iran would gain U.S. goodwill if it "responded in a positive way" to the case.

Any other country in the world would be outraged at the baseless arrest of one of its citizens overseas. But not Obama. He's the bigger man, a man of maturity. Hell, he's so mature his spine has gone and vaporized into dust.

Durban II: A Circus Show of Hypocrisy

The United Nations is bracing for a major anti-racism conference opening next week at its European headquarters, with concerns rife that it may descend once again into clashes over Israel that marred the last conference in South Africa eight years ago.

It's finally here: the UN's Durban II conference, a congregation of several world powers led by Iran meant to fight against global racism, begins this week on Monday. If you researched the first Durban which took place in 2001, or have any knowledge of the topics discussed, then I don't need to tell you that this conference will be nothing more than a cesspool of anti-Semitism and Islamist propaganda. The governments of the USA, Netherlands, Israel, Canada, Italy, Australia, Sweden, and Germany have already announced their boycotts of the conference.

If you can guess by the fact of Iran's leadership, the first Durban conference was used as a platform to push the aforementioned contortions of free speech. The very subject matter of the conference is pungent with hypocrisy and irony, as it's meant to fight racism but in fact creates even more. Much of the Western world suspects that Durban II will be no different, and used as a front to silence any criticism of Islam, Shariah law, or Mohammed. I've always said the UN is worthless, but letting jihadi and Islamist nations hijack it isn't my idea of a good solution.

You will recall that Obama originally intended to not only attend the conference, but help outline it as well. Only after his administration saw that the conference's veterans weren't going to scrub the anti-Semitism and Islamism out of the conference plan did Obama withdraw.

At the Vatican, Pope Benedict XVI said the conference is needed to eliminate racial intolerance around the world. Asia News, a Catholic news agency that is part of the missionary arm of the Vatican, said of the pope's comment: "The Holy See is distancing itself from the criticisms of some Western countries."

Some European countries are still deciding whether to attend the U.N. conference. Britain said it will send diplomats, despite concerns the meeting could become a forum for Holocaust denial or anti-Semitic attacks.

Many Muslim nations want curbs to free speech to prevent insults to Islam they claim have proliferated since the terrorist attacks in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001. They cite the 2005 cartoons of Muhammad published by a Danish newspaper that sparked riots in the Muslim world.

European countries also have criticized the meeting for focusing heavily on the West and ignoring problems of racism and intolerance in the developing world.

That Pope sure is a swell guy, isn't he? Hopefully he'll be singing a different tune after he sees the intellectual pollution Durban II belches into the international atmosphere.

There's really not much to expect from Durban II. Let me give you a rough outline of what's going to go down:

1) Ahmadinejad will deliver his opening speech (garbed in Gestapo attire, of course), after which the meeting will convene. Refreshments, including the blood of Jews and Westerners, will be served during an hour lunch break.

2) All attending nations will pass a blanket denial of the Holocaust (because the Jews made it up), condemn any criticism of any religion (but secretly agree to ignore it unless it targets Islam, in which case they will bitch ceaselessly), and spend a few hours damning that Jewish thorn in the side of the Middle East.

3) After a group 'Heil Hitler' salute, the meeting will adjourn and all attending vice-chairs will return to their respective nations with a false sense of progress.

4) Nobody will care.

Interesting to note are the nations that are attending. Here's the list:

As a famous ten year-old juvenile delinquent once quipped, “You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.” It seems like Hebrew U has decided to take up this pre-teen train of thought; if you don’t rape someone, you’re a filthy racist.

Hebrew U recently published a research paper questioning why the IDF has such few cases of rapes, as compared to other countries’ militaries:

The paper further theorizes that Arab women in Judea and Samaria are not raped by IDF soldiers because the women are de-humanized in the soldiers’ eyes.

“I do not have the entire text in front of me,” Gurevitch [professor who recommended the research paper for publication] said, when contacted by Arutz-7, “and I don’t think we can jump to conclusions based on partial sentences, but I can say the following: This was a very serious paper that asked two important questions: Is the relative lack of IDF rapes a noteworthy phenomenon, and if so, why is it that there are so few IDF rapes when in similar situations around the world, rape is much more common?“

I wish I could say this is some Johnny-come-lately April fool’s joke, but I can’t. There really are people out there, in Israel, no less, who think the IDF is racist for not raping Palestinian women. What’s even worse is that some braindead professor saw this paper as serious research and decided to help get this garbage published. Anyone want to guess how much Hebrew U’s incoming student body is going to drop now that this trash is affiliated with them?

It’s incredible to what intelligence-defying lengths the anti-Israel crowd will crawl to in order to demonize Israel. The IDF doesn’t rape Arab women, so they must be racist. And the only way to fix that view is for IDF soldiers to go ahead and rape Arab women, which would of course make them criminals.

Is it not possible that the IDF is simply composed of moral people? That it sees rape as morally reprehensible? That it understands that anti-Zionists like the mental toddler who actually decided to “research” this will defy all logic just to make Israel look bad, because he knows other likeminded anti-Zionists aren’t bright enough to understand they’re foisting a double standard on Israel? Just because Israel is surrounded by a number of Arab and Muslim countries who are more or less alright with treating women like garbage doesn’t mean that their idiocy has infected Israel. Why isn’t this guy condemning the child marriages in Saudi Arabia, Muslims who conspire to murder their own daughers, honor killings in Jordan that target women, or husband-beaten wives in Saudi Arabia who are forced to pay their husbands for divorce?

Since when did not having forceful sex with someone signify your racism? Why is rape such an atrocious crime, but when Israel is added to the equation, all of a sudden not committing rape is just as bad? I seem to recall an incident where a group of very racist Islamists raped and impregnated a poor young Canadian reporter they kidnapped before demanding $2.5 million for her return (she’s still being held hostage). But of course, this double standard only applies to Israel, as do so many others.

Turns out the US Marines have a sense of humor; those who were holding Saddham Hussein in captivity in 2006 forced the dictator to repeatedly watch the South Park Movie: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Hussein himself is depicted as the gay, loony-voiced boyfriend of Satan in the movie, and still makes occasional appearances on the show. The US Army's 4th Infantry Division sent an autographed picture of Saddham Hussein to South Park creators Trey Parker (left in picture) and Matt Stone (right).

11 Year-Old Suicide Bomber

Abdullah was caught crossing with Taliban fighters into Afghanistan from Pakistan. The 11 year-old boy was wearing a large jacket stuffed with explosives. His reasoning is that if he doesn't blow himself to bits and kill innocent people, non-Muslims will invade Muslim countries. He has been termed the "world's youngest suicide bomber". Incidentally, Abdullah was raised in a mosque in Pakistan. Go figure.

Bigoted Professors and Palestinian Murderers, Hypocrisy

A Palestinian went on a rampage with a pickaxe and knife today through a West Bank settlement, ending in the murder of a 13 year-old Jewish teen and the murderer's escape. It seems killing Jewish teenagers with pickaxes is helping end the Israeli "occupation" or bring peace. This just shows that a Palestinian state alongside Israel will only create more problems for the Jewish state.

The hypocrisy of the Palestinian Authority (or any Palestinian authority) knows no bounds. The PA has now issued a death penalty for any Palestinians who sell land to Jews or Israelis, apparently oblivious of the fact that Israeli has given the Palestinians an immense amount of land over the past 60 years and gotten squat in return.

I had an interesting experience two days ago in a "Political Islam" class. The professor, last name Petrovic, which doesn't sound Arab in the least, opened the first lecture of the course with this line:

"Christianity is a religion most authentic in times of suffering. Islam, on the other hand, is a religion of success."

I ran that through my head for five minutes and couldn't find an explanation for it in which he was not trash-talking Christianity and asserting Islamic "superiority". What does Christianity- or any religion besides Islam- have to do with Political Islam? Nothing, certainly not enough to be mention as the first topic of discussion in the class.

Petrovic then went on to call Jesus a "failure" within the first half hour. I promptly packed my papers and left the class. I contacted the School of Social Sciences yesterday and they pointed me to Petrovic's right to free speech.

How many other teachers are spewing this hate speech in their classes, hiding behind the right to free speech the same way flag burners and anti-Westerners living in the US do? How many professors are poisoning the minds of their students with this irrelevant and entirely unnecessary filth, all the while hiding behind its title as "legitimate discourse"?

I expect better from academia. I guess my standards are too high.

Khaled Abu Toameh

While a large portion- if not majority- of Arab-Israelis are hostile time bombs just waiting to explode, there's always an exception to the rule. Khaled Abu Toameh is a Palestinian Muslim Arab-Israeli journalist who used to write for the PLO, and surprisingly he's one of the most respected voices on the Mid-East conflict. For good reason.

This is an article Toameh recently wrote. I had the fortune to see him speak at our campus. The man is to be commended for his open-mindedness; he brings a healthy and refreshing moderate and unbiased view of the conflict to the table. He focuses not so much on the conflict but more on how Yasser Arafat and the PLO are primarily responsible for the Palestinians' current predicament. His personal experiences in Israel and the Palestinian territories has brought out in him a very unique persepctive on the conflict.

Palestinians Play Music for Holocaust Survivors

Quick news update before we get back into the swing of things around here: a lovely Israeli Arab woman by the name of Wafa Younis from Jenin gathered some Palestinian youths to play at a concert for Holocaust survivors. Granted, the kids didn't know who they were playing for or why, but it was a wonderful gesture on Younis's part.

The Palestinian Authority has consequently fired her, disbanded the youth group, and kicked her out of her house. Clearly, the PA in the West Bank is someone to look forward to achieving peace with.

Oh wait. Don't they demand the annihilation of Israel in their charter, just like Hamas? Never mind.

(IsraelNN.com) Starbuck Coffee, whose products and stores are known internationally, said it is “disheartened” at boycotts and violence based on false accusations that it is pro-Israel and even helps finance the Israel Defense Forces. An Egyptian cleric recently said on television that the company’s logo, a simple drawing of a woman with a crown on her head and adorned by a five-pointed star, actually is the Jewish Queen Esther mentioned on the Book of Esther in the Bible.

“This is totally inaccurate – the Starbucks logo does not represent Esther,” according to the company. “This myth has been brought about by the similarity in looks on the cover of a children’s book about Esther to the Starbucks logo.”

Just another message of tolerance from the religion of peace. Never mind how inane and moronic the claim is; it's outright anti-Semitism. Boycotting a business just because they think the logo has something to do with Judaism? As the JIDF puts it, the Jews should boycott McDonald's in return because of Ronald McDonald's "M" logo- M for Muhammed. Clearly, McDonald's is helping to finance Islamic terror cells.

Ban-Ki Moon: United States is "Deadbeat" Nation

If you had any doubt as to the relationship between UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon and the terrorist organization Hamas, it looks like Ban has finally taken a page out of their book (no, not that book); biting the hand that feeds him.

Breitbart reports:

The White House objected Thursday to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's description of the United States as a "deadbeat" donor to the world body.
Ban used the phrase Wednesday during a private meeting with lawmakers at the Capitol, one day after he met with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Ban's "word choice was unfortunate," given that the U.S. is the largest contributor to the United Nations.
The United States pays 22 percent of the organization's nearly $5 billion operating budget but is perennially late paying its dues.
Asked whether Ban should retract his comment, Gibbs said some recognition by Ban of the U.S. role would be appropriate.
"I think given the contribution that the American taxpayer makes, I do think it would be appropriate to acknowledge that role," Gibbs told reporters at his daily briefing.
Ban, apparently concerned about his choice of words, issued a statement late Wednesday saying the U.S. "generously supports the work of the U.N., both in assessed and voluntary contributions." Ban also said he enjoys "an excellent working relationship with the United States and appreciates the many ways that it supports the United Nations."

At least he had the decency to acknowledge the fact that out of 192 UN member nations, the US is the main country keeping his useless club of bigots from tanking. Unfortunately, takesies-backsies doesn't work in the international community.

The US isn't handing Ban billions of dollars a year so that he has people to tell how lousy he thinks our country is. Then again, Israel and the US do the same exact thing for the Palestinians (because every cent, shekel, pound, etc. that enters Gaza and the West Bank winds up in the trigger-happy hands of Hamas, dontchaknow).

Even the Obama peaceniks had a word of disapproval for Ban's choice of words, and this is from the administration that wants peace with terrorists.

Darfur Aid Workers Kidnapped; Sudanese Gov't Suspected

Now that Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir finally has an arrest warrant out for him, he's taken it upon himself to make life for Darfurians as miserable as possible. Of course, the Sudanese government denied any involvement in the plot, but everybody knows they had a hand in it if not orchestrated the entire thing. al-Bashir recently recalled all Sudanese aid from Darfur once he received the arrest warrant.

What a swell guy, eh? I can't understand how this jerkoff has any supporters at all, but then again, I'm not sufficiently educated as to what's going on in Sudan and Darfur.

Armed men burst into an aid agency compound in Darfur and kidnapped three Westerners, heightening fears that foreigners will be targeted in the backlash over the international arrest warrant for Sudan's president.

The three workers for Doctors Without Borders were kidnapped late Wednesday in a government-controlled area in northern Darfur, close to a stronghold of government-allied Arab militiamen known as janjaweed.

The Sudanese government condemned the attack and denied any involvement. But officials quickly blamed the arrest warrant issued last week by the Netherlands-based International Criminal Court accusing President Omar al-Bashir of war crimes in Darfur.

"Anything that goes wrong (since the warrant) onwards I personally attribute to the ICC decision," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ali Youssef said.

Ali Sadiq, another Foreign Ministry official, told Al-Jazeera television that his ministry had warned that the warrant "encourages lawlessness and armed groups to target aid groups and their workers."

Late Thursday, a state-linked media organization said the kidnappers had demanded a ransom. Quoting the governor of North Darfur, the Sudan Media Center said local government officials had begun negotiations.

"The kidnappers asked for a ransom and they reassured us that they don't want violence," Gov. Osman Kebir was quoted as saying. The report did not say how much money was demanded.

Kebir said he had phoned the kidnappers at a number sent to him by the abductors and also had spoken with the captives, who said they were in good condition, according to the report.

Al-Bashir's government has been warning since even before the warrant was issued March 4 that the case could lead to revenge attacks by Sudanese, though it said it would try to protect aid workers, peacekeepers and other foreigners.

Sudan has vehemently denounced the warrant as a "colonialist" attempt to destabilize the country. After it was announced, Khartoum retaliated by expelling the 13 biggest aid groups working in Darfur, accusing them of helping the court.

The expulsion has sparked fears of a humanitarian crisis in the region, where the government and rebels have been fighting for six years and several million people rely on international agencies for food, shelter and water.

The Dutch and French branches of Doctors Without Borders, also known as Medecins Sans Frontieres, or MSF, were among the expelled aid groups. But the abducted staffers belonged to its Belgian branch, which was allowed to remain along with the Spanish and Swiss branches and dozens of other smaller aid groups.

MSF said Thursday that because of safety concerns all its branches would move their personnel out of Darfur to Khartoum — except for a small number working for the abducted staffers' release.

"Evacuation will mean an interruption to many of MSF's essential medical services in Darfur. MSF is extremely worried both for our abducted colleagues and for the populations that MSF teams had been providing medical aid to," the group said in a statement.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum authorized the departure of nonessential staff, saying the security situation was "uncertain."

Several Islamic fundamentalist groups and a militia in Darfur have made public threats to attack ICC supporters in Sudan. The threat was dismissed by Sudanese officials as an expression of "political support" for al-Bashir.

In the Wednesday evening attack, gunmen entered the compound where the MSF-Belgium staffers lived and worked in the rural town of Saraf Umra, 230 kilometers (125 miles) west of the regional capital El Fasher, said Susan Sandars, an MSF spokeswoman in Nairobi, Kenya. The clinic provides vaccinations, treatment for malnutrition and prenatal care.

The gunmen seized a Canadian nurse, an Italian doctor and a French coordinator, along with two Sudanese guards who were released several hours later, Sandars said. It was not clear if violence was used in the abduction.

Banditry, break-ins and carjackings against aid organizations have long been common in Darfur, usually blamed on the many armed groups operating in the region. Worsening lawlessness in the past year forced many aid workers to travel only by helicopter to avoid high-risk roads.

Sudanese aid workers have been killed in such attacks. Others have been held by attackers, with most quickly freed after being stripped of their vehicles, equipment or cash.

The latest attack was different. "Deliberately going to some place with the intention of taking people away" has not been seen before, said Kemal Saiki, communication director for the joint United Nations-African Union peacekeeping mission in Darfur.

The attackers likely faced little or no resistance since security around such compounds is often not strong, Saiki said.

The three captives were allowed by the kidnappers to call MSF colleagues to assure them they are in good health, said Hassabo Abdel-Rahman of Sudan's government humanitarian affairs office. The captives said that "they are eating and drinking and are OK," he told reporters.

The two released Sudanese guards were questioned by police but could not identify their abductors, Abdel-Rahman said.

Someone brought this video of Iranian punishments to my attention. It's a good- if horrifying- example of the dangers of a Muslim theocracy. This news of Israel blocking Jewish Israelis off from accessing certain parts of Jerusalem isn't any more comforting.

The World Doesn't Revolve Around Gaza...

...it revolves around Africa. In the realm of death tolls, anyway. Next time some ignorant jerkoff pulls out the "there's a holocaust going on in Gaza" card, show them this chart comparing the total death toll of the conflict to the death toll of the genocides in Darfur, Sudan, and the violence in the Congo. It'll shut them up in a hurry.

It also looks like the UN is either suffering a world-class case of denial or has been hijacked by the Islamic states. This draconian resolution criminalizing all criticism of Islam should certainly arouse criticism throughout the international community, but I'm not holding my breath.

My eyes will be following Netenyahu a lot in the months to come, perhaps more than others. Now that Iran has enough uranium to build a nuke, as reported by the UN and the US military, I want to know what Israel, who (should) understands what a nuke in the hands of a radical Islamic regime means far too well, plans to do about it. And everyone knows the whole point of their nuclear program is to obtain a nuclear bomb.

The situation reminds me of the time Israel ran an air raid on Hussein's nuclear reactor; the world screamed bloody murder at them for so many years until Hussein invaded Kuwait. And then Israel was a hero. Unfortunately, Ahmadinejad has learned from Hussein's mistakes; the Tehran reactor is now underground, which makes an air raid almost ineffective. I wonder if the Israeli secret service has a secret program dedicated to training super soldiers in the art of espionage and sabotage? How does the moniker Metal Gear Mossad strike you folks?

Given what Ahmadinejad screams almost on a daily basis- death to America, death to Israel, death to Jews, yadda yadda- it really disturbs me that he's gotten this far with the reactor. Something's happened to today's world leaders. Somewhere in the last 20-some years, the words "backbone" and "moral fiber" disappeared from world leaders' vocabularies.

We all know what Obama's thinking about this; pay Ahmadinejad a visit, flash a peace sign, elicit a promise of no nukes from him, and the situation's handled. So like he's been in every other important situation of national security since January 20th, Obama will be useless and will probably make things even worse. Meanwhile, China and Russia are in bed with Iran, the entire Middle East (save Israel) doesn't have the balls/is happy about it, and the UK is swiftly becoming a mirror political image of the Middle East (save Israel). South America is either too poor or too busy praising Iran. So that leaves one go-to guy as far as I can see.

Netenyahu, it's all on you. Don't wuss out on us now; I never got to go to Paris.

Durban II

Obama's administration is pulling out of Durban II the same way a hormonal frat jock reluctantly pulls out of a cheerleader he's just learned is underage. Yes, we keep it classy around here.

Obama was recently planning to help freedom-loving countries like Venezuela and Iran plan the anti-Semitic feeding frenzy, but he's apparently come to his senses once it became apparent it was impossible to sway the leaders of the Durban conference from their anti-Semitic agenda. The US has now joined Israel and Canada in boycotting the sham of a conference, and European nations are expected to follow.

Preparations for a draft document have shown Iran is leading a small group of nations moving to block a number of Jewish protections- including mention of the Holocaust- while at the same time moving to make it a crime to criticize Islam. The conference is also promising to be viciously anti-Western.

...so I show them this, and they ignore it anyway. It wouldn't be especially disconcerting if there hadn't been like 80+ identical scenarios since the start of Operation Cast Lead.

I'm all for liberating the Palestinians from Hamas. Get Hamas out of the equation and things will get simpler. But for some reason, pro-Israelis who want peace get more flak than pro-Palestinians who throw eggs, bottles, and tear gas grenades at people whom they disagree with.

School's back in session, went to a pro-Israel rally to stand against the MSU today. We had a pretty good showing. Winter break was fun, hanging out with my best friends again was cool, and New Year's was very drunk. I hope all of your New Years were happy and healthier than mine.

The Gaza offensive has pretty much continued on the same track, save for the couple rockets Hezbollah threw at it yesterday. Israel has conditionally agreed to a cease-fire, but I see Hamas violating it again within the next year. What a shocker.

My friends have brought a couple of disturbing media items to my attention. I think it's worth checking out.

The Gaza Offensive

A lot has been going on these past few days. Israel finally retaliated against Hamas for breaking their 6-month truce (technically they broke it long ago, but whatever), and has been pounding them unbelievably hard, as they should. Of course, the entire Arab and anti-Semitic world is screaming bloody murder at Israel to stop, and the sad part is Israel is probably going to give in to international pressure soon.

It's sad that Palestinian civilians are dying. But the fault does not all lie with Israel. This article sums up the fault of Hamas in the matter very well. If you provoke a stronger enemy, you're going to get raped. Hamas broke the truce. They used it as a resting period simply in order to stock up military supplies and build an army to attack Israel again. What Hamas is experiencing now in Gaza is nothing more than what they deserve for provoking a stronger enemy.

I heard Israel confirmed that it will launch a ground offensive on Gaza, but don't take my word on this just yet. My guess is the IDF is risking its own people so as to quiet down all the bitching about the civilian casualties. Of course, they excuse that Hamas uses schoolyards and civilian backywards as launching pads and civilians as human shields.

It's inconceivable how people can condemn a country for acting in self-defense. If rockets from, say, Iran, landed in say, Kentucky, the American people would demand action. There is no reason why Israel is not entitled to defend its citizens as well.

In other news, I'm fighting the flu. Right before New Year's. Damn it.
